Will a PS1 memory card fit a PS2 console?

Thanks Buenchico. Lots of conflicting answers there but as I want to use it for a PS1 game I think the answer is probably yes.
We used our PS1 memory cards in our PS2 but it was only big enough for saving PS1 games so we had to buy another one for the PS2 ones - since there are two slots its not a problem though.

Thanks all for your help. The reason I had asked the question was because I had bought the original Silent Hill for PS1 and PS2 on ebay. When I tried to play it using my PS2 memory card it wouldn't work and I didn't know why. As I thought you couldn't use a PS1 memory card in a PS2 console I was really upset as the original Silent Hill is my favourite game of all time. I rooted around in my PS stuff and found an old PS1 card and hey presto can now play the game :)
