My laptop is driving me mad. Suddenly it is so slow. Everything I click on takes ages to load and the circle thing is there for ages. Also every time I shut down it says there is one of one updates to load so dont turn off, but surely it cant happen so often. It is Windows 7 which I must admit I am not used to and have been trying to get hold of a book that explains everything. Unfortunately the two I have bought take it for granted that the reader already knows a lot. What if I restore, would that fix it, but would it cancel my anti virus? By the way installed Kaspersky recently, I wonder if it is that? Sorry to be so thick, but would be really grateful for advice. Thank you.

You will need to run a repair on your updates to clear up any faulty ones.
Go to start and type in the search bar Troubleshooting
When the Window opens click on the trouble shooting bar
When this window opens scroll down to repair updates and click on it
When this opens follow the prompts to carryout the repair.
This should help you.
Glenbar I also have windows 7 on my desktop with Kaspersky anti virus. I found windows 7 a bit confusing until I found the book "rough guide to windows 7 by Simon May". I have found this very helpful and it appears to be available in most libraries.Hope this helps...
