Could anyone give me an idea what the labour cost should be for the following work
(I supply all materials and skip )

Lawn 9 metres x 3 metres approx
Dig up lawn to prepare for slabs, remove waste to nearby skip
lay hardcore and cement base (foot traffic only)
lay 450x450 slabs and provide cement border to match slabs up to existing

I've had one quote but he was very vague and wouldn't provide anything in writing, can anyone give me an idea before I get any more

I live in the Midlands if that makes any difference

No I wasn't looking to pay an hourly rate but a quotation to do the job as a whole by a self employed builder/landscaper
Sounds as though you got the wrong man in to quote.

Why would you want the hassle of supplying materials yourself? Just get a couple of quotes to 'supply all labour and materials' from reputable Landscapers. On a job such as this, work to your rules, ie no money up front, as any reputable firm will run on monthly accounts and payment on completion.

They will know where to by materials at the best prices, probably cheaper than you can buy. If you provide them yourself, you will be open to a hike in labour price if there is any waiting time for materials.

Thanks Landscaper

That's something along the lines of what I thought should happen but the guy who quoted said I should get the materials and skip i think I'll give him a miss
