Am thinking of travelling there in November, and wonder if it's worth extending my stay to do a few days in Montevideo.

as well as Montevideo (where I've never been) it's just across the river to Buenos Aires (where I have been, and loved it).

If you're travelling that far it would be daft not to spend some time in the biggest city wouldn't it? I'm sure there's plenty to do and see there.
