Hi

I was made redundant whilst on maternity leave a few months ago. i'm wanting to start up my own beauty business working from home and doing mobile treatments.

i hadn't been signing on but was told i should have been since i've been unemployed. so went today for the first time to sign on.

i'm needing to start from scratch and buy in my supplies. As soon as i have enough to do waxing, tinting ... the more popular treatments i'll get my leaflets out then slowly buy in more equipment as i go along

when i got home and spoke to a friend they think you can get help if your unemployed to start up your own business.

does anyone know anything about grants?

thanks

If you have been unemployed for more than six months, ask the job centre about NEA - New Enterprise allowance. Once started they will pay you £65 for 13 weeks and then £33 for 13 weeks and you can apply for a £1,000 loan from the government.

LOAN, not grant. Why anyone would want to give grants away is beyond me.
