Hi all,

I am a recently graduated student and I have landed myself a job in Earlsfield, London.

I am looking to relocate to London so that I can commute to work conveniently. However, I am at a total loss as to where the best place would be for me to look for accommodation.

My workplace is literally right next to Earlsfield Rail so I was wondering if anyone knew where the best areas would be for me to look at. I will be starting on 18,000 per annum, but this gets reviewed in 6 months where I would likely be offered a payrise. Because of this, I will need somewhere very affordable, sharing with other professionals to lower the cost.

At the moment I have had a quick look at Croydon and Surrey but I can't quite work out where the best place is for me to travel from.

Please help and many many thanks in advance!

you might find that you could live and work more locally, as Earlsfield is outer London
and i wouldn't want to travel say from Croydon. Lots of areas not too far away, like Balham, Clapham, Tooting, all within reasonable distance. Have you looked at estate agents in Earlsfield, and could get the local papers, look for a flat share in those You could also ask your new employer where you could look, i am sure that someone would be willing to help.

local paper.

Thanks. I will look there too, it's just that most places seem to be very expensive and I cannot afford paying more than £500 a month for my rent and bills!
the reason suggested more locally, is that you would find that the further out you commute the more costly it can be in the long term, rail seasons tickets can be very costly. Are you able to get down to the area, check it out, that's also a good way to see what you are letting yourself in for. Good luck.
It would be worth looking at Clapham area for accomodation. My neice rents there and she is on a similar salary to you. It's then only a few minutes on the train from Clapham Junction or there would probably be several buses.
I just Googled 'Flatshare Earlsfield' and there are a number of options. Gumtree looks quite good. Have a look.
