absolutley positive she is a she she has laid eggs every year for 20 years - I also have a he - girls are much bigger than the boys and have shorter claws - she is eating though so should be OK - I will ring my vet just to make sure she is OK.

By the way, never underestimate a terrapin - timmy my little boy (or rather apparently 50 odd year old boy) watched our cat go in and out of the catflap and yes, you've guessed it he can now go out of the catflap.

hurrah - she laid an egg yesterday so it looks good - she is eating, carapace looks shiny eyes bright so it looks like she is going to be OK. Sometimes she lays one egg and that follows a few days later with more - at least she can't be egg bound as it was perfectly shaped etc....... thanks for caring Carmalee

Thanks carmalee - I have told her well done - I know it is crazy but I do love my two terrapins - Timmy is so naughty he gets out of the catflap - watched the cat and followed him - she's too big to get through it though she gave it a good try turning all ways to try to squeeze through - we now have to barricade the catflap when we get them in at night before putting them to bed to make sure they don't escape. Don't worry though the catflap can still be used by our beloved Oliver
