In the UK a Degree trumps a Diploma (usually).

yes i think a degree is better, as i know in nursing people with a diploma have to convert their qualification, by doing the extra training that is involved in t egree. i would assume this was across the board x

I don't know much about diplomas but a number of friends of mine got degrees to progress to postgraduate study and now have PhDs, say if you wanted to lecture.

Depends what you are wanting to do really.
