High blood pressure (hypertension) can result from many different causes - cigarette smoking, obesity and poor diet ( high animal fat consumption - cholestorol ) are the main causes, though stress, anxiety, exercise, and emotion can increase blood pressure. High blood pressure may also be a symptom of disorders which affect the adrenal glands, blood vessels or the kidneys. High blood pressure can result in a number of symptoms. These can include headaches ( particularly in the morning ), blurred eyesight, palpitations, giddiness ( especially when changing posture ), increased passing of urine during the night, amongst others. The main effects of high blood pressure involve the blood vessels and heart. It is one of the main features involved in the development of a stroke, and also highly increases the risk of coronary thrombosis and coronary artery disease.
