built in cd player in telly broken......how do i fix it?!

bit of a no win situation but thought id ask.......telly guarantee expired - cant find receipt anyway. cd player lasted 3 yrs, if that, wont read any discs now.....someone told me the sensor must be gone?! is there anyway of fixing it? if i paid for repairs how much is this likely to cost?
