Pill confusion

Hello guys,

I have recently stopped taking Yasmin for my skin as it wasn't really helping and was giving me severe headaches. I have now been given Dianette.

I want to clarify when I can start taking this. I am NOT using the pill as a contraceptive so would like to start taking it as of tomorrow (regardless of my next period). In the info pack it mainly just mentions when it is safe to take it for contraceptive reasons. My understanding from school is.... That if I start taking it tomorrow, I will take it for the entire pack and my period will come on in the seven day 'break' rather than when it is due without the pill - is this right? I am sure it is but it was a long time ago I had the 'contraceptive talk' at school and I may be getting it mixed up. I just don't want to have to wait a few weeks for me to start taking it when it isn't being used for that reason.

Thanks Guys.

You ate swapping one contraceptive pill for another although I appreciate that it isn't being used for contraceptive reasons.

In the vast majority of cases...yes....you are quite correct.

So yes....perfectly correct to start taking the pill today and continue with the whole pack.....come what may.
Hi greedyfly, I can't help with your question but I hope the Dianette works for you. I took it years ago for skin problems and its supposed to be good but it gave me the worst headaches I've ever experienced in my life. I hope you are okay with it :-)
I was the other way round, had to come off Dianette as it gave me awful headaches and now on Yasmin which has been great (also not on it for contraceptive reasons).

I made the mistake of starting mine as soon as I got it in wanting to feel better, altering my cycle, and didn't feel great for a few weeks but then it sorted itself out. I went from nothing to that though and my cycle was being problematic anyway and was getting a lot of pain and evil pmt, hence going on the Yasmin.
Here's a thought. Ask your doctor. They are paid huge sums of money and are qualified to answer.....
