.. to vulnerable people, these animals must be a collection of the most sadistic bullies, savages of the highest order. Will they end up in jail? or, more likely some sort of soft option, disgusting creatures.

I think it all comes down to appropriate "independent" training before starting work.

I think that some of these youngsters starting work under such a bully are possibly convinced somehow that this is the way to control this type of patient, along with the fact that this guy was also a Senior Carer, very intimidating by his appearance and his manner.

I think with appropriate training, people may be more aware of how to deal with these unfortunate people and also how to spot the bullying tactics immediately and to know what is and what is not acceptable.

An example of everyday abuse in many homes: An elderly resident is told and made to sit down as they may fall over if they are walking. This is abuse!!

If an elderly resident is not able to walk safely a carer must walk with him or her, if that is not possible due to staffing levels or time restraints they can usually be encouraged to sit down by distracting them with an activity. To wander freely is a basic human right, who are we to deny such a valuable freedom.

I give this as an example so people know just exactly where abuse starts, in that program you saw where it often ends.
