Growing medium for African Violet

I think my lovely African Violet that sits on the kitchen windowsill needs some new soil, as he has been in its current stuff for years. What is the best stuff to buy to put him in? Homebase is full of John Innes this and that and I'm not sure what kind he'd do well in. Thanks.

I don't usually bother with any special soil, I just get B&Q compost and mine seem to thrive, with loads of flowers.
