Euonymus

Hi everyone

We've just planted 2 standard euonymus(es) in rectangular beds (not centred). They are golden coloured ones. Any idea what I could plant beneath them? When I think of red, orange, purple, pink etc all the colours seem likely to clash. Ideas appreciated. Thanks

Lavender would look good as the silver foliage would go well and the blue flowers would also look ok.

Purple and gold will look lovely.

Have a look at cranesbill geraniums or something with leaves toning with the Euonymus leaves. I say cranesbill because our euonymous is purple - it's so exciting when it flowers! Word of warning, we did have to stake ours when the stem got to its tallest.

How about a mix of purple and white petunias for this season? We have a load of tulips in the beds already - all different colours so they should be fine for spring etc. I really like the idea of purple and gold so thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Id go for this seasons hot clashes of bright pink petunias and orange geums the geum will continue happily for a few years maybe next year mxed with cool white daisies or lime nicotianas

What an interesting idea - thanks Rowanwitch. We are planning to go to the Garden Centre tomorrow so we'll see what they have and go from there. With everyone's help, at least I'm going with some ideas rather than a blank!
