I have just had my application withdrawn for a childcare practitioner with the local Government and basically my enhanced CRB came back absolutely fine. My previous references were employment references and the manager was requesting more "in depth" references I gave her a personal reference which she said was absolutely fine and she even spoke to her to verify who this referee was. I informed her I could give another two employment references and she was not interested.
She said OFSTED would not accept just basic employment references. IN which I was happy to give her another two. I have never been disciplined for gross misconduct or misconduct. I just wondered if I can find out what the problem is with the reference from the local government. Take the matter further if need be. Does anyone know what my rights are? I have asked in writing the reasons why she has withdrawn the application. Im just waiting now to hear from them.

I believe you can ask for a copy of the reference from the organisation which provided it to you, but I'd like someone else to confirm this.

Thank you boxtops for your help Im so upset about it never had an application turned down before
This sounds very odd. Before becoming a childminder I've had various jobs in childcare and the only possible thing I can think of apart from you having any kind of conviction is whether anyone living with you has any kind of criminal past? Is it just Ofsted that have a problem? You could ring them for advice?
