for the last couple of days i have been getting grey pop up boxes claiming to be from microsoft messenger warning of a corrupt registry , possible virus and informing me to stop the pc to avoid further damage and download the fixes from the list below and i am suspicous of them

yesterday i was surfing ok apart from these persistant pop ups and then my modems 2lights (send/online) went off. and i couldn't sufr.Today i had to reboot the pc to get online because even though all the modem lights were on I couldn't connect-whether this is related to the above - i dont know
i have ran scans with adaware , spybot, and cw shredder

update your spyware and virus checkers. run full scans on both.

see what happens... sounds quite like spyware to me.
