can you use a 1st class stamp twice

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there is any rule to say that you aren't allowed to use a 1st class or any stamp twice. If you cut it from an envelope and stick it down with sellotape can the royal mail refuse to deliver it?

If it hasn't been franked then there is no proof that it has already been used, so you can use it. If it HAS already been franked and you use it again, then the recipient will have to pay the postage and an admin fee (somewhere around �1).

Being in the mail-order business I accumulate quite a few stamps which have been stuck on an envelope by accident and have to be cut off and re-affixed at a later date.  Obviously this is quite in order, but if I receive envelopes where the stamp has not been cancelled, these too are used.  My view is that if the post office cannot operate properly then I am entitled to use these stamps.  So far as I am concerned, if I can re-use a carton or other packaging then not only is this good practice but actually encouraged - so the same goes for postage stamps.

Use pritt stick rather than sellotape as it makes it less obvious the stamp has been reused.

As long as the post office hasn't stamped it, then it is fine to re-use!
