Lazy chook

I got 3 chooks (Light Sussex) 2 weeks ago. I was told they were 18/19 weeks old (although I am sure one is a lot younger).

Over the last 2 days one of them has been doing a lot of random sitting down. She stays away from the others, finds a quiet spot in the garden and just sits quite comfortably. Her crest is only deep pink at the mo and not red.

so is she

a) a jolly lazy chook
b) coming into lay
c) feeling poorly.

Any veteran chicken keepers have any ideas? (I am really hoping it's (b) but these 3 are quite contrary).

Perhaps she's not ready yet - is it the youngest one? (I don't keep chickens, just wondering)

It's a deep pink but is brighter than the others. Fingers crossed it is b!!!

Boxy - I thought she was the middle one, but the way she has put on weight, I am fairly sure she is the eldest.

Trim, I just spat wine on my keyboard. The OH had tears in his eyes.

Sh'e not lazy, just thinking!!! She'll lay soon :)
That's wine and coffee you'd put in people's keyboards today, naz!
If she is poorly for any reason her dropping will be pale and probably liquity (sp).
And speaking of little, angelic ASBO - is he living up to his name or staying clear of all them "wimmim birds"?
I had no idea that hens combs/crests changed colour.....ya learn something new every day... ;-0
A nice rosy red comb is a sign to the cockerel (if you have one) that the hen is ready to breed, so the laying of eggs will follow soon, cockerel or not.

Your girl may be enjoying a nice dust bath & lying in a hollow in the warm sunshine contemplating her first egg!!
