Can anyone recommend a company that won't charge the earth because I've seen a consultant in the last 6 months?

Insurance Choice. The latter two have no upper age limits.

HI, I used ENSLEIGH and found them quite reasonable.

Go Travel Insurance would apply their usual premiums but refuse to cover whatever it was you saw the consultant for.
