As I managed to get started in the NE and SW quadrants, 8, 23c fell into place quickly. which meant that the letter to be deleted and combined with the title became obvious early on. Reference to ODQ then justified the grid entries! An element of jig-saw entry, but more acceptable compared to last weeks blank grid!

I had an N at the end of 29a as it seemed to make more sense in 26d, but I now see I was wrong.
