Is there ANY way that I could plug a DVD player with a SCART output (and s-video) into my TV that only has a coaxil type input that the ariel goes in (I think it's called RF).

Not directly. I guess you would need some sort of coverter I found this one http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page4.htm I guess your TV is getting a bit old.
there is some kind of adaptor box available but they are pricey. you are better off buying a new tv!
If you can defeat the macrovision on your model, you could do what I do and connect it to your video first, then watch via the video (assuming your video has scart - most recent ones do). Macrovision will distort the picture though.
Well...there are ways of defeating Macrovision (copy protection). Firstly, and probably the easiest overall, is to have a DVD player that can be 'hacked' via it's remote control to remove the copy protection. DVD's that definately can remove Macrovision as far as I know are: (1) any model by Acoustic Solutions (2) Limit DVD9900se (3) Samsung 709 and 511 (4) older (pre-2001) Cyberhome DVD players If you have a DVD player already and isn't 'hackable' then you can get a little box of tricks that can remove any sort of copy-protection from a TV signal. Try companies such as Russ Andrews.com, Veda Products, Maplin Electronics, and Lektropacks. They all have websites.
