A technical question I have from work, did all the pre 1970s iron rests made from grey fireproof pads have asbestos in them, or were some made of other materials?

Thanks Eddie, one more detail, as far as my builder tells me, many were actually made of asbestos cement rather than the pure stuff, so in fact they only had a small proportion in it. This didn't apply to the other items you mentioned, but it should be on the ironing boards unless anyone knows differently.

Hi,  take note that medical opinion is that ANY quantity of asbestos is dangerous and so the %proportion in various products is not very relavent.
