Laying a lawn and marestail

Hi, we are totally relaying the lawn... the garden has marestail... Is it worth putting weedkiller down before the lawn is re-laid? Any advice appreciated.

According to a friend with 30+ years with our council in various plant related fields the only thing that will kill this menace is diesel, unfortunately it kills everything else too.
Best plan seems to be keep it trimmed with the grass or pull it out when you find it.
