My mum is complaining of an aching near her hip, just on one said - she thinks its muscular and describes it as being just below the hip joint and she says its worse when she gets up after sitting for a while ..... Had it about 2 or 3 weeks. ....... Any ideas? TIA

Thanks for that - really helpful - NOT!!! Was looking for guidance over weekend (ie no doctor!!!) and was hoping a sensible person might tell me what it might be and more importantly what might give some temporary relief!!!
I would suggest a GP call this morning as well.
You posted this today so the weekend is over

I have pain every where when moving after a short time sitting or remaining in one position. Paracetamol and/or ibuprofen is all anyone here can suggest for pain releif
relief*
Could be sciatica, very painful condition that. Hope she is soon better but if it continues best to seek advice, maybe something that can be sorted without too much hassle.
No big deal........Ibuprofen 400mgms as and when the pain is present and if no improvement on that regime (which there should be) then see your GP after 10days.

It could well be the start of Osteo-Arthritis of the hip or just a muscular problem.
I'm starting to think there's an epidemic, several people I know have this at the moment, myself included. My neighbour saw her gp & all he said was painkillers & rest & to go back after a couple of weeks if no better. Your mum could try a heat pack, it helps me.
