Since I had my PC overhauled recently, I can hardly read what's on screen because the wording is so faint. How do I make it bolder (ie, blacker?)

google cleartype, or maybe your screen needs adjusting as well

or get the people that did the "overhaul" to sort it out if they caused the problem
some overhaul ?!

Well, if it's typical, there will be buttons on the side, the bottom or the front. But as you haven't mentioned the model, it's pretty difficult to advise.
