I have problems keeping my 2 dogs separate in the back of the car although they are always strapped in. I am thinking if there was such a thing as a mesh barrier [quite firm] that I could divide the seat down the middle it would help a lot. The seat has a cover on so it needs to be fixed at the top and sides & can't be wedged betrween the space where the seats divide [if you see what I mean]. Have Googled and Ebayed but can't see anything. Does anyone have any suggestions please, before there is bloodshed?
Thanks.

Not heard of anything like that. How big are they? Can you not crate them? You can fit two reasonably sized crates on the back seat of most family sized cars. I assume you do not have an estate/hatchback because you can get dog guards for those that would seperate them if you had one of them sitting on the back seat. Alternatively and probably the cheapest option would be to muzzle them both then they can't attack each other. Is this just something they do in the car?

I suppose you mean something like this but for the back seat not the boot.

So can one dog not go on the back seat and the other in the boot secured safely?
Found one here it has two uses

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I have 2 toy poodles and one is very jealous of the other. the problem happens when I go to get one out [doesn't matter which one I choose] the younger dog 'goes' for the older one, and can get rather scary. I have tried crating my quiet one, but as the seats slope the cage rocks about. Just wanted a simple solution, but may need to look further into the crate situation. The divider link you sent was great, but i only have a Ford focus, it would be ideal if I had hatchback. I really appreciate your ideas, so thank you.
what about the last link I listed:

Put a rolled towel at the back of the seat to level it out. Would your cages wedge against the front seats if turned end on (if you see what I mean) that also stops rocking. I've transported plenty of dogs in my time, there's always a way.
How about a bespoke fitted crate.

Thank you 'What-the', the seat cover we use also acts as a barrier between front and back seats, thanks anyway.
Rattyratgirl; I'll try the towel and crate idea, thanks for that, and Jules77, looks interesting, I'll enquire for a quote.
I can never believe how genuinly helpful and friendly people on Answerbank are. I really appreciate it, thank you.
sorry to keep mentioning it but that last link it looks like its just a barrier between front and back seats but it has another hidden use..it can also be used to form a barrier in the back seats to divide children and pet etc

"The Back Seat Dog Barrier also doubles up as a back seat divider to seperate dogs and passengers in the back seat."
http://www.kurgo.com/products/bsb.html theres more info on the makers website

looks like you install the main front to back divider (which you already have in the cover) and then a large canvas section unclicks from the main body to divide the backseats, it connects to the back of the back seats via looping and tightening around seat belt connector at bottom and at the top either looped through or around the head rest.

hope this helps. it might be a lot more compact than crates, and creates a flexible back seat arrangement.
