There are more and more ads being advertised with pop songs as background. Does anyone know which was the first one to be done this way ?

And can you name some ( I could think of some yesterday but now my minds gone blank )

I remember the Coca Cola - Like to Teach the World to Sing

The other one that i remember from when i was young is (I put my) Blue Jeans On by David Dundas. It was used on the Brutus Jeans ad.
Hi Nummy- I think the David Dundas track appeared on the adverts first before being released as a single.

I remember Marvin Gaye's Heard it Through the Grapevine was used in the Levis ad in 1985.
