Volume probs with Windows 2000

For some reason the wave balance on my volume control automatically goes down to zero when i try to play WinAmp, once i put it back to normal, it returns to zero after the song is over. Is it a bug? Any suggestions for try to solve it?

I had the exact same problem and it was caused by having the wrong Windows 2000 sound card driver. I updated the rogue one with the WDM version and have been happy as since.
