i have 2 cats 1 comes and goes in the night as it pleases quite happily without much fuss (unless we shut our bedroom door then paint work and carpets get ruined) the other is a year younger and we used to keep it in the kitchen at night but now she has realised she is nocturnal and wants to go out at 2 am (she lets us know by screeching and ruining paintwork scratching the door lol) the only problem is when she is let out she keeps waking us up for fuss, but we cant shut our door due to the problems ythe older cat causes if we do.
i have a feliway plug and spray but these do not help.

any ideas oor have you had the same problem and worked out what to do?

thanks (a very tired tweeny)

I don't know how long you have been letting your other cat out at night but if it is a relatively recent thing it sounds like she is reassuring herself that you are there when she comes in. Mine did that for a while and still do it occasionally but now they tend to just settle themselves down once they come in. Your cat will probably do the same once she's reassured herself that she can come and go.

hi bensmum
thanks for that, she has only been going out at night the last week or so (to save my sanity form decorating and door scratching lol) so I will be patient and hope she settles down soon like yours did.
thanks for the advice :0)
The two of them are rewarded by attention. Withdraw it (might seem to you to be cruel) and when they get no result, eventually they'll stop. Cats must live round you, not the other way round!
Hi we have got a cat she is about 8 yrs old, we had never had any problems with her at all untill we decorated our hall and landing now when she is in on her own or first thing in the morning when we are still a sleep she scratches at the walls in various places she never did it before has any one got any ideas, we have been putting her in the conservatory of a night.
