Hi
I've been going to the gym for about 6 weeks now and have been given a programme to suit my needs.

My question is, what do these whey protein drinks that they sell, actually do for the body? I've tried several of them and they are delicious but I'm at a loss to know if they are any better for you than a homemade milkshake or if they are drunk instead of a meal. I find them quite heavy on the stomach and I'm a little concerned that they may make me put on weight. However, if they are really beneficial to the body I may as well buy a large container full for use at home.

Many thanks
