and consequently get a choice of about 200 channels. I regularly watch about ten of these (no not all at once - read this question properly). If I changed to a smaller package I would inevitably lose some of the ones I watch (crafty lot these tv providers). Wouldn't it be nice if we could choose the channels we want to watch and just pay for those. For instance I never watch the music channels at all. If I want to listen to music I have my own CDs but presumably I am paying for them in my package deal. When will someone come up with personalised packages?

Good Question Sterbi.

Loads of the channels you "get" are actually free. If you have a skybox, try taking the card out and seeing which channels you can still receive...might help you to see if you can downsize.
It is very annoying Starbuck, I have the same problem. I've got the XL package as well but if I downgraded I would lose the Discovery channels and some other stuff which I watch every now and again.

I've got cable - Virgin media - woofgang. I tried downsizing but as tigger says I lost some of the channels I want to watch. None of them are "free" they are all paid for in the package deal. I have a box with all the amenities.
Hi starbuckone how are you today ? Since my dear wife died in 2008 I am living with my daughter & son in law. We were paying Sky £78 pm split between us ( 1/2 each) for sports/movies/2 h/d boxes & multiroom.Like you we found we were watching hardly any of them.We have eventually come to our senses & opted out of Sky & still using the sat dish we are getting Freesat & to be honest we are watching the same programmes we always did including h/d for free.Ron.

we have quite enough on Freeview, we don't need all these channels, I don't know how everyone else manages with so much choice...
redhelen are you making me an offer I can't refuse ? Ron.

In recent months I've found the BBC and ITV more than enough for my tv viewing. In fact these are improved significantly. So much so that I have moved my tv package to nearly the minimum.
