Caught a bit of a programme on the telly earlier about two couples competing for the chance to be relocated in a village - or some think like that .

One couple was black - the villagers were commenting as to whether or not the black couple would be accepted into the village community .

One person said that the kids in the village have probably not met a black person in real life and might be anxious .

My question is why ?

Do you live in an area where there are no black people - would you be ' anxious ' if you saw a black person walking down your street ?

I think the producers wanted to create a 'little england' attitude towards non-whites by pitching a black couple against a yorkshireman in a popularity contest - in Yorkshire! A thinly veiled disguise of exposing racism packaged up as a competetion to win a house. It made good TV.

God know why they would be anxious of meeting a black person - meethinks the interviewers did a very good job of manipulating the locals with loaded questions, NLP techniques and clever editing to get the required reaction from them.
