I have various photos which I think are good enough to be used for postcards (as modest as I am!). They are photos of the Caribbean. I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to get them published?

If you want to sell the publishing rights to these photos as a one-off venture, I suggest you send your work directly to post card and poster publishers. A good place to find details of these will be the Yellow Pages.

When submitting images, be sure to write your name and address on each one; enclose a list of the images submitted (e.g. Parasol on Beach, Cliff View) and an SAE, including postage and filled out Special Delivery form, to ensure your work's safe return. Most publishers will prefer to receive images as 35mm transparencies, as this is the format they will use to reproduce your work onto cards.

Finally, it helps to research the market, i.e. pop into a couple of places that sell postcards, posters etc., find similar images to the ones you have, and note the name of the publishing company. If you are interested in making your photography into regular income, the best way to sell work is to sign up with a photographic agency, as larger publishers are more likely to look at work submitted from these. Good Luck!
