Has anyone else had a visit from a Co. Rep of SiG asking to do a loft insulation survey? They said that all the utility companies are funding the installation of newer, thicker insulation free for customers who have 2" or less insulation and £199 for those who have above 2". The guy said that 14 million households have signed up to this.

Thanks Box, just trying to make sure I don't get conned.
I'm not keen on cold callers anyway, regardless as to whether they are genuine or not. If you want something you can make your own investigation. Get the best deal, not the one offered at the door.

Neither am I OG. I usually turn them away like I did earlier but I just wanted know if anyone else had been offered this as he said it was government backed and 14 million had already signed up to it.
I don't know that Company Tiggs, but I do know plenty of people who have had this done. It's a good deal ........... much less than cost price of the material alone.
Just make sure it's an "authorised" company.
I have had mine done a couple of weeks ago they do claim some of the money from your utility suppliers
I had loft insulation done and cavity wall at the same time with the same company I have a 3 bed semi and it cost me £300.00 Hope this is helpful to you

Ah Bob, I was so hoping you'd be around. Thanks for the info. They have called round twice now and I've turned them away. They claim they are CIGA, BBA and NIA approved.
They're definitely the right "Approvals" Tiggs :o)))

Thanks Waterbabe, it is very helpful. I would like to do my bit for the reduction of carbon emissions but I just wanted a bit of reassurance.

Excellent Bob, I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if they can come round to do the free survey :o)
My daughter had the loft insulation done for £49 and also cavity wall insulation done for the same price; this was through a link with the council, but apparently a lot of the councils and energy companies are doing deals. She is a house owner, not a council tenant.
