My wife has been offered a make-over by Sapphire Studios after entering a competition. Has any-one out come across these people and are they a genuine article? Any help gratefully accepted.

I used to work for a company years ago (really needed the money!) and people 'won' makeovers. Most people caught onto the fact that they would need to pay if they wanted to get the pictures away with them but women came along in their droves thinking they could just have fun with their friends for the afternoon and then head out for the night all glammed up - only to...

They'll probably try to charge her hundreds for a set of photographs. No such thing as a free lunch, or a free makeover.
Most makeover sessions are a con in that they want you to buy hugely overpriced prints rather than just take away the 7x5 print that comes with the package she needs to have a good read of their terms and conditions and price list
Just Google them. It looks like they are to be avoided and as Sandy says they will sell you photographs at hugely inflated prices
She will probably have a "makeover", they will want to take photos and she will be charged lots of cash for the work. This sort of thing goes on all the time. (Me, cynical? Never!)
That's four alike minds, then.
first of all, did she actually enter a proper competition? or fill in a slip in a shopping centre one day (in which case pretty much everyone "wins" them)
I had one years ago. The make up they used was horrible. It was really thick and made me look like a drag queen. Then they spend an hour trying to convince me to spend hundreds on photos. I wouldn't do it again.
The scam is that they will charge OTT prices and because the person who is being "made up" has been pampered and fussed over, they are meant to be more inclined to purchase a picture of themselves "looking their best".

I suppose some reputable photographers may do this as have heard people getting family portraits done but maybe as advised check out the companies back ground.

Well, That's sorted that out then.
I'll be putting my foot down with a heavy hand.
You aren't going, be told!
Best of luck with THAT Dave....:(
as long as she keeps her wits and isnt bullied into anything it might be a bit if fun...you can always take pics of her instead

many photographers studios do this...offer a free photography session...only to charge for the photos...

i was offered it by an old pal once, and after discussion took her up on it, with the belief that she would get some interesting shots for her website and id get one or 2 nice pics...she was a con too though...
