When I was a kid going to Sat/Morn pics and seeing Ming the Merciless And
The Mud Men in 'Flash Gorden' frightened the life out of me but every week I went back for more.

Are you really saying you were afraid of the Goons?
Actually yes. My parents had an LP. The cover was all black and white drawings (think I can remember a bath and definitely a bomb). They used to play it a lot and there was a sketch about one of them going to be blown up by a bomb and saying 'you dirty rotten thing' or something. It terrified me.

If you have, or can get hold of, that LP don't let go. It is probably worth some cash now.
the aliens off cacoon, still cant watch it! My brother was scared of the fraggles!
Yes Jem, Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars and Flash Gordon conquers the Universe. Great! In the "tupenny rush" here it was Saturday afternoons. Coming forward to present day my grandson (now aged 16 so would kill me if he knew what I was saying) was scared stiff of Pingu when he was a little one. He would sit by my husband holding on to his arm, fascinated but afraid.

Sadly none - I remember my friends hiding from the daleks (which I thought were great and still do). I remember being 'slightly' worried by some foamy tentacley thing coming up in a lift in the Patrick Troughton era of Dr Who when I was about 5.
I only started to get properly freaked by TV programs/plays when I was allowed to stay up and watch some of the weekend thrillers in the late 70s. There was one about a club of old men who were only allowed to take on new members if their horror story was convincing.
I remember one episode was called "Don't Write Home Mom (sic) I'm Dead" I think it involved a stone circle, though I might be mixing it with "Hammer House Of Horror" which I also loved around that time - especially the one with Diana Dors and those vampire kids - happy days *sigh* :-)
ps. I remember Catweazle as being the archetype all most hippies I got to know, I thought he was great. Most of all I remembered the theme music and re-visited the series recently. Profundities were fantastic, even by today's standards IMO - I am still looking for a decent full download !
