In my late Grandads possessions, I have a scrap of paper, and handwritten are the names of 3 people who had just been killed and where they had buried them ( On topof Tin hill ) How do I put this information out to the families without joining one of these ancestry sites ?

Do you know the regiment your Grandad served with? If they still exist you could contact them.
if you follow the info for tracing your grandad's military record from http://www.armymuseums.org.uk/botha.htm (quite detailed, but worth it) you could find out where he was when this happened.
Alternatively, you could locate and contact your nearest military museum, who if they have anything about them should be able to send the information to its rightful owners. They might also help you with ancestor research.
