I have some small tubs at the front of me house (south facing-but a bit of a cold area) and I had just planted some pretty cyclamen which were doing well until the recent freezing weather killed them all! I thought they were cold tolerant but I guess that recent weather was just too much. What can I replace them with between now and May when I usually plant impatiens? I love colour and they are small pots.Would primroses be ok?

bit early universal pansies or coloured foliage like variegated ivy might be better or there are already pots of bulbs in the shops mini daffs or grape-hyacinths (muscari) would be pretty
Primroses (Primula) come in lovely bright colours, including the native pale lemon, they go on flowering for ages. When flowering is finally over you can plant them in the garden. Violas are also lovely & flower for months.
Both are very tough, but if in an exposed position or frosty, cover with newspaper or fleece at night.
