This is not a joke, Alika, as I have used the technique myself before during house-removals...is there a window available which is larger than the 27" when fully opened?

We checked and the windows and the back door are narrower, so we have to get the sofa through the front door.

Have it delivered, then it is their problem!!

Are you talking of a 2 or 3 seat? A 2 seat might be able to be turned round the doorframe by standing it on end (if you see what I mean).

I used to work for an upholstery firm and we never failed to get a piece of furniture in we have removed doors etc in the process but the earlier answers were right get it delivered if poss

Thank you for your answers.

The problem is most sofa's have a long delivery wait, and we do not want to wait 10 weeks only to discover that the sofa will not fit.

Having said that, if there is no way of knowing then we will have to!

Thanks again.

We ordered a sofa which we knew was wider than the doors - then waited to see how the retailer would deal with the problem. When the van men discovered that it was a no go they simply removed the arms at each end. No, it wasn't simple really and it took them about an hour to remove and the same to refit, but they had had this problem many times before and had all the equipment with them. Good luck.
