9/11 - With me darling (late OH) both in shocked horror, glued to TV.
MJ - Unknown but missed. I dont castigate unproven charges
Di - Woken by son, both upset. Could've strangled Charlie the cant.
7/7 - Caring for ailing mum, think the shock killed her (lost the will to live).
Elvis - BIL told me & nicked all my Elvis vinyls.
At work
At work.I was on night shift
Refer to Sandyroes answer
razza, 'refer to Sandyroe's answer' isn't helpful. People have to search all the posts two pages back to find out what you're talking about.
space shuttle challenger (25 years ago last week) - just in from school, stunned, and thinking that rob mcnair will miss the houston concert with jean michel jarre.

9/11 - at work, trying to comprehend and get updates through internet streaming, my cousin worked/works for cantor fitzgerald.
MJ - don't remember
Di - just having breakfast i think.
7/7 - at work, in london, dealing with panic calls from various friends and relatives making sure i was alright
elvis - too young to notice
9/11 wife rang up to say how would it affect your compny if a plane crashed into the world trade centre
MJ - don't remember
7/7 - don't rember
Di - woke up on holiday in france - turned on the radio - couldn't work out what the hell was going on
Elvis - don't remember

You missed fall of the Berlin wall - watched that at home - had thought about trying to get over to see it all happen - wish I had :c(
1. at work - student placement playing around on t'interweb said 'Oh look a plane's hit the world trade centre'...
2. Listening to radio 4 in bed - OH woke me up and told me at 6 in the morning

remember watching the news of JFK's assassination sitting on the floor in front of our telly
John Lennon's assassination - driving to work
1. I had a survey to caryy out and I watched the first 'plane hit the first tower just as I left home. I arrived at my clients house and as she knew nothing about it she switched on the TV just in time for both of us to see the second 'plane strike.

My client was frantic as her husband was in NY on business and commenced telephoning all and sundry............I felt very uncomfortable and eventually left without completing the survey.
I arrived back home in time to see the first collapse.
Her husband was fine and the project eventually went through without problem.
2. Camping in Kirkby Lonsdale. Mrs jth and I wandered into the campsite shop to find reports of MJ's demise all over the daily newspapers.
3. My Mum rang in tears to tell me that her last beloved CKC spaniel had died the night before. She mentioned that Bracken had 'been in good company' and went on to explain that Diana had died...............this had a real impact because I was actually working at Althorp at the time. What a chuffing circus it all turned into !!
1) Ironing for a lady I worked for; we both sat absolutely shocked as the towers fell;
2) Just getting up for work, when a US friend emailed me about MJ;
3) Watching v late night/early morning tv when the news of Diana's accident came on the news. I woke a couple of hours later to be told she'd actually died, it seemed so surreal.
9/11 - Doing ironing when my sister phoned to tell me. I thought she was winding me up as mr j and I were due to fly to America a few days later and she knows I'm terrified of flying. Put tv on and could barely believe what I was seeing it was so awful.
MJ - no idea
Di - we rarely watch tv and must have been the last in the UK to hear the news - about a day and a half after the event.
I think, for the majority of us on here (oldies....) we are far more likely to remember where we were when Elvis and John Lennon died rather than MJ. Of course, some of them (sqad.....etc) can remember where they were when JFK was shot... ;-)
sqad was in the audience when lincoln got shot.
3. I was on the long Summer Holiday from school when Elvis died. I remember being entirely unaffected by his passing.
4. I was amazed at just how many of my school-friends starting wailing and flopping about when John Lennon was shot..........he'd never featured terribly highly on *any* of our radars........
pmsl at Ankou !!
9/11 it was my daughters first day at school, I flicked on sky news when they were talking about a fire in one of the towers, unfortunately I saw plane 2 hit the other tower live, then the pentagon, it was like the world had gone mad that day
MJ: dozing on the chair when I was awakened by the newsflash of MJ being rushed to hospital
Princess Di: I found out when I got up early to feed my daughter who was very young then, at the time the news had reported her as seriously injured and dodi dead.
7/7 I was in asda shopping, as I walked up the aisle the audio visual part at the top had sky news on all its tvs so I went up to see what was going on.
At home watching the news when the planes hit the towers.

MJ- cant remember/ dont care.

Diana - working nights and was watching in the rest room.

7/7 on holiday at my parents house in France.

Dave.
9/11 - I was only 11, so I don't know where I was exactly as it was happening, but I first knew about it when my P.E. teacher rounded us all up after the lesson (was either a tuesday or wednesday, wasn't it? I'm pretty sure that's when we had P.E.). True to form, I'd been avoiding any kind of physical exertion for 2 hours so just wanted to get home and didn't really understand the significance of the news, just that all the teachers/parents were shocked about it. The 7/7 bombings are a much more vivid memory for me.

Michael Jackson - I was on facebook. I've never been a fan of Michael Jackson or particularly liked the man, so it didn't really sadden me any more than hearing about any other death. Leslie Nielsen's recent death upset me much more than Jackson's... my reaction reaction to it was a more-than-slightly selfish grumble (which I'm a little ashamed of) that I'd have to tread on eggshells around all my friends/colleagues who worshipped him.

Diana - I was 7.

I have no idea where I was for any of them ... and to be honest I don't really care either.
A bit of nerr nerr, here, on September 11 2001 I was sticking photos from old holidays in an album as the first news flash came on the TV. The photo in my hand was of my daughter standing on top of the tower that didn't have a big aerial on top, it looked to be growing out of my daughter's head standing on the adjacent towera a bit of a family joke really.
