Hi,
You were so good last week, answering the last question, Could I avail of your knowledge on how to work out some of the more intricate clues?

1.....Courageous type carrying one staff in religious ceremony
pattern: - I - A - I - N
I can get citation and libation - if it is one of these - how?

2.....Flower at start of summer is lacking colour
pattern: - W - N
seems to be SWAN but I don't know of a flower.

Any help would really be appreciated.

regards
Ann

Thanks for that one.

I can't believe I didn't of a flow-er, I only thought of the colourful flowers!

NazNomad and jno, Thank you for the first answer.

Also, NazNomad, I didn't realise that the swan was actually a flower in the proper sense - swan-flower

bibblebub - Thank you for the second one. I never thought about splitting it up.
