Geordies who live in other parts of the UK

Are there any other Geordies on here who live in other parts of the UK?

I am Geordie lass and live in the south of the UK. Some people can't understand my accent down here.

My grandparents were Geordies who moved to Surrey. I could understand them when they spoke to me but if they spoke to each other it was a language of their own.

I think sometimes us geordies speak too fast for the southern folk to understand me. I do get some very nice comments from my customers, though, saying what a lovely accent I have.

The River Tyne has little to do with it, nor the River Wear. If you say, 'Why aye, canny, aal reet, howay', and can sing all the verses of 'The Lambton Worm', then you qualify. Incidentally, we bathe once a year, but only if we need it. Our cleanliness is next to our ungodliness, aal reet, marrer ?

My ex landlady is a Geordie and lives here in Oxfordshire. She is however a complete nutjob and a thieving b1tch. For a while I hated all things Geordie. However I have since met a friends bf who is a Geordie and lives down here and he is very nice, so faith is restored.
