Feeling Ill after giving blood

I gave my 5th blood donation last night and shortly afterwards I came over horribly dizzy, felt nauseous and was all clammy. That lasted for about half an hour and I had a fuzzy head for the rest of the night. I've never had any sort of problem with previous donations before so is there a reason I would have this time?

They did have trouble getting the vein. The nurse said it was really deep and had to move it around quite a lot once the need was in. Could it have been something to do with that?

They didn't have any bourbons last night. I was a little disappointed.

This link is quite interesting. It shows current blood stocks in the UK.

I'm B Neg....

They need yours Ummmm!
I'm B Rhes Neg, due to donate again on 22nd of Feb I think it is, my girlfriend is too, looks like they need us from that graph!
Lol...you'd think they'd write us nicer letters :-)
The odd thing is that, if you are a rarer group, they may not need it that much because there are a lot fewer people who need it!
Mrs jth and my Dad are both the same more unusual group..........I carry a length of tubing around with me just in case one has an accident and needs an immediate transfusion from the other ! ;o)
I am B neg too (and it is supposed to be rare-2% of poulation) so it's surprising to find others on here. Do they ask you every 3 months like they do me as they really need it?.I have given loads of times but have on 2 occasions been too anaemic and I'm sure they ask for mine too often.
To stick to the thread,I have occasionally felt a little 'out of it' afterwards and once felt a bit over-tired but that's all,Ive never felt ill.
yeah but I'M in that rarer group so don't let gingjbee stop you! ;) ha!
I think from what I was reading...people with A and B can actually receive O without any compications. It's the AB that is really important as they can only receive their own blood type. I might be wrong though.

They still need the rare blood types. Even they don't use it to give to a patient, blood is used for research and other reasons so it's still important to donate the rare type if you can.

I will shortly be climbing down from my high horse.
I beleive it's the 'neg' thats the rarity and they always write saying that there is not enough of it in stock.
Well, I'm AB+ and was rather put-out to be told that they would be calling me LESS often because they didn't need it!
Yes it is we neg 0 - that is universal, they are after our blood!
