Hi All

Does anyone know what this involves please?

I have googled bu it only seems to be american or scary answers come up.

hey chickadee, i don't know the answer sorry but i would imagine they are either going to remove the clot or put a filter mesh in to "catch" them but i don't know. Sorry you are both going through this

They have transferred him to a better hospital, onto a vascular surgery ward, so they will know exactly how to look after him.

I think they are going to remove it because it is so big and his leg is more swollen than when he went in.
They will do, or already have done a venogram to identify the exact position of the clot which in your husbands case sounds as though it is in the ilio-femoral region (groin).

An incision will be made into the vein and the clot "sucked" out.

The operation is routine and "no big deal"
