I can see that "outfit" would fit the space, but I cannot see how this is arrived at.

It's an anagram of suit without the s (cut front off) and 'of' and 't' (end of west)

Aah, I see now, but a rather tenuous clue nonetheless. Thanks for that chelle7272;it save's me from wasting my day off obsessing about the answer to that one.
