Has anyone stayed in a nice cottage in Cornwall?  My hubbie & I are looking to go next summer along with our baby and my parents.  I've got some brochures but just wondered if anyone had any recommendations, ideally near St Austell, somewhere on the coast.

To complicate things, my sister and brother-in-law would like to join us for a weekend, along with their 3 year old and a baby.  This means we are looking at hiring a big place for around 1000, rather than a place for four of us costing around 600.  Any advice/tips would be great!

Thanks

National Trust Cottages are always nice.  Not the cheapest but always well looked after and in some more unusual places, plus you can get into whatever NT place is your staying at.  We've stayed at ones in Boscastle (which may be shut cos of the flood) and two at Cotehele.

We also stayed here http://www.cornwall-holidays.co.uk/tregongeeves/home.htm

a few years ago.  It was good then and 5 minutes from the coast.

However, it's been our experience that you get what you pay for - cheaper places are not as nice as the more expensive - and cottages with the major chains are more consistent as they have to be or they are thrown out.

www.mevagissey.net/cottage.htm.This is a site worth looking at on the net.My daughter and family had a lovely stay in the Hayloft but there is other accomodation available on the same Farm.Rice Farm.It was all very nice with full facilities.A short walk down a lane to a lovely beach  and the village of gorran haven.I dont know how much room there is in the lets but maybe you could split up.

I stayed at Manor Barn, Perranporth. It was great and sleeps 8 people.  It's a listed medieval tythe barn.
