Is it on your right side/ I ask because I suffered with this just before Christmas and the pain was so bad I took myself off to casualty to be examined by a doc. No broken or bruised ribs (though that's how it felt) and the doctor suggested because of where the pain is I had gall stones. Was advised to see a doctor for a scan and given a scrip for some meds until then. Best to see a doctor though, especially with breathing difficulties.

Not being funny - could it be wind? It can be acutely painful, and it does move about.
it sounds very much like trapped wind
Is the pain there the whole time or only when you move?
Is the pain made worse by breathing?
Any cough?
Any abnormal activity recently?
Does eating make it worse?
How old are you?
Are you taking any medication?
Hi I had something similar last year I thought I was having heart attack, got my self to the hospital I was admitted with infection in the Pericardium it is the muscle surrounding the heart they called it Pericardatis apparently because I had got the flu jab the hospital reckon that is how I got it, so it could be that
