L.S.Lowry....any experts out there?

Is anyone here familiar with his later years. I know he died in February 1976. I am trying to find out if Lowry himself attended exhibitions of his own work in Manchester in his later years. If he did,does anyone know up to what year? If not does anyone have any idea how I can find out. I have Googled like crazy and have emailed The Lowry in Salford. Many thanks if you can help. The answer is very important to a good friend of mine.

You need to contact the staff at the Salford Museum and Art Gallery who tirelessly curated Lowry's collections before they were appropriated to validate the Hertage Lottery fund grant that went into the dockside gin-palace development.
