One of my fav eras of history but I still have to think about which king was which when it comes to 1066. There's a very readable book by Danziger on 1066 and life, in all its facets, even down to food, booze and sex - good bit on execution techniques. The book is not as good as his 1215 though (Magna Carta) as by then, records were a lot more detailed and also the chances of them surviving were greater.......for example through the Church or early Oxbridge colleges (like that BBC 2 programme showed recently on KIbble, Leics, and the rich histroy available through the land owner, Merton College)
OK, now you're just showing off.....;)
I like the Planagenet era.
not really - 1215 is quite a good read and not a long book - even showed that you Scots were growing white wine grapes back then as the climate was 3c (on average) warmer! And that red grapes were grown up to Luton - hic(!) - need to go and think about a bottle for tonight!
*Plantagenet
tigger - I do too - all the busts up with the French and internal strife too......I guess a little bit like the Royal Family, Hs-of-P and the Church(es) , minus the murders and blood - shame......
What are you on DT? Lol
S*ds law - i move to scotland and they stop making wine! Ah well....
I find the Edward II reign very interesting and quite morbid at the end.
Nevermind Miacat, you've got plenty of malt your way.
England is ruled by Britannia, who stands resolute on the beaches of Dover, defending her country and the Crown.
