After the 1st day's play in the 1st test, some people were doubting England's capabilities on the big occasion. Since then we have shown that we have nothing to fear from the Australian bowling and the result of the 1st day in the 2nd test is that we can get the better of their batsmen too.

Whilst it's unlikely to be easy, the indications are that we have a very good chance of winning The Ashes, and not just retaining them by drawing the series.

Can the Aussies return to their previous dominance or are they a spent force at present?

we'll know more in 24 hours. We shouldn't judge a match after just one innings.

England seem to be showing the sort of form that they have had for a while now, and the first couple of days of the 1st test were the blip, not the other way round.
I hope. But one possibility is that the whole 1st test was a giant blip caused by the flattest pitch ever laid by human hand. As I say, we'll be much clearer about it after one more innings.

Well those 24 hours have passed (all the day's play anyway) and England are well on top. Or is it necessary to wait another 24 hours?
